We are thrilled to announce our upcoming exhibition, and first group show of the season, ‘Protect Me From What I Want’ curated by Anouska Kobus, with works by artists Tringa Gashi (SE), Angélique Heidler (FR), Julie Koldby (DK) and Chloé Royer (FR). The exhibition opens on April 24 from 7-10pm in our new space at 49 Rue des Cascades, 75020 Paris.
The exhibition plays with the notion of capitalist desire as being linked to questions of love and infatuation, becoming a swamp of mixed up emotions and tropes to be explored. Referencing the iconic 1983-85 ‘Protect Me From What I Want’ billboard by artist Jenny Holzer, the connections between the works in the exhibition and title bring light to paradoxes inherent in today’s neo-capitalist societies, where systems of thought steeped in new feminist materialisms create forums for critical engagement.
Reactivating existing artworks in a new artistic context, the exhibition plays with the concept of non-linearity, suggesting a playful and rebellious practice of exhibition-making.
We look forward to seeing you for the opening.
